2. Single use coffee cups

Bringing your own reusable coffee cup, like an ECOFFEE CUP, made from bamboo fibre, means less waste and you might even save money as more cafés are giving discounts if you bring your own cup.

Reuse cuts daily consumer waste of single-use cups. Made with natural, sustainable bamboo fibre, Ecoffee Cups are lightweight and lovely to drink from; leaving no plastic after-taste. The cups come in a range of sizes, colours and patterns and are fully dishwasher safe including lid & sleeve.

Created with the world’s fastest growing, most sustainable crop – bamboo fibre, Ecoffee Cup is BPA and phthalate free.

3. Stop buying plastic toothbrushes

When you need to replace your toothbrush, choose one made from bamboo. The Bamboo Brush Society make a range for all ages from, you guessed it…. Bamboo! The handle is made of environmentally sustainable bamboo. It’s heat-treated to carbonise the surface, and this carbonisation finishing process makes the handle water-resistant.

Currently, the bristles are made from Nylon, but the company say they will continue to work closely with their manufacturers to seek alternatives. The only current natural alternative is pig bristle, and TBBS say they are too fond of pigs for that. The packaging is made from recycled materials.

5. Say no to plastic Q-Tips:

Are you using plastic cotton buds? Then why not switch to bamboo? From the same makers as the toothbrushes, The Bamboo Brush Society, these cotton buds are 100% biodegradable made from sustainable bamboo and organic cotton.

7. Plastic straws suck!

Try sipping your drink. Almost everyone can do it. Ok, we appreciate there is a small percentage of people who, for reasons beyond their control, find it difficult or even impossible to drink without the use of a straw. We acknowledge that, but it is a very tiny number of people overall. The “ablist” argument from some quarters against a straw ban on behalf of this small number of people is doubtless a well-meaning but perhaps misguided call. These individuals are fully aware they need a straw, and they can bring one with them. That doesn’t require a box of 100 on the counter of every bar, restaurant, hotel, burger joint and nightclub in the land.

Reusable, durable and washable, they are breathable and can help your produce last longer.

8. Plastic produce bags:

Bring a reusable, durable and washable produce bag. They are breathable and can help your produce last longer. A great example of these is from Australian company ONYA who make bread bags, bulk food bags, produce bags, shopping bags, disposal bags, and much more. All their products have green credentials. 9. No bottled water: Drink from the tap or take a reusable bottle with you

Don’t buy single-use plastic bottles of water. It’s virtually guaranteed you don’t need it. Like with the straws, we acknowledge a tiny number of people have little choice but to use bottled water, but most of us don’t need it. We just don’t. Get a water filter for home. Anyway, the odds of you dehydrating between the breakfast table and the office are slim to none. Honestly. If you really must clutch a bottle to you everywhere you go as if your very life depended on it… please make it a reusable one and fill it with your home-filtered water.
